Task 2
1. Officer: I will be asking
you some questions. First, where were you last Friday on the 20th of the july
Suspect: Last Friday? I
was at the campus from 9 to 12, and then I just stayed in my room—as I
remember.
Officer: With whom?
Suspect: I live with
three friends of mine. But I don’t remember they were home the whole day, at
least I was alone in my room.
Officer: What were you
doing?
Suspect: Nothing. Just
finishing some assignments, and watching movies.
Officer: Did you ever
leave your room before everyone was back?
Suspect: No, I mean, yes.
But I was just going to the kitchen to get some water.
Officer: When was this?
At what time?
Suspect: How’d I supposed
to remember? I guess it was around 6 pm in the evening. Oh, and somebody was
already home.
Officer: Who was that?
Did you talk to him?
Suspect: It was Johnny.
We didn’t talk. I knew it was him because his door was open, and his music
player was on. (Johnny.
Officer: Did you notice
anything unusual that time?
Suspect: No, there was nothing
suspicious at all.
Officer: Can you make
sure it was actually him? Did you see him?)
Suspect: No. I was just
jumping into conclusion.
Officer: Then what did
you do after that?
Suspect: I got back to my
room and sleep. I was exhausted. I woke up the next day.
Officer: Enough for
today. Thank you for your time.
Officer: You have a
warrant out for your arrest. (Ada perintah untuk menangkapmu)
Suspect: No, I don’t. I
didn’t do any crime. (Tidak. Saya tidak melakukan kejahatan apapun)
Officer: Explain that in
the office (Jelaskan nanti di kantor)
Suspect: I’m not guilty!
Why would I have to go with you? (Saya tidak bersalah! Mengapa saya harus ikut
denganmu?)
Officer: If you were not
guilty, you shouldn’t have worried about anything. You’d get to leave after
answering some questions. (Jika kamu memang tidak bersalah, kamu seharusnya
tidak perlu khawatir. Kamu pasti bisa pergi setelah menjawab beberapa
pertanyaan)
